Peter Wallace (1680-ca. 1723)
- Our earliest documented Wallace ancestor was Peter Wallace, Sr., born (probably) in Scotland, some say in Sterling, in 1680. He moved to Ireland, where he married Elizabeth Woods about 1705. He died in Ireland sometime before 1724, when his widow and most, if not all, their children emigrated to Pennsylvania.
- While early writers claim he was a "Highlander", this is probably a mistake since Wallace is a Border name. And no, we are not descendants of Sir William "Braveheart" Wallace (~1270-1305), since he left no descendants. We probably are related, but on a collateral line that is not documented.
