''Thanksgiving in Florida''

<!-- Write below this point -->

: The wifi connection in my hotel room doesn't work on either my Windows laptop or the Orange Pi, although I was able to connect using my Android phone. So, I set up a hotspot using the phone and am now happily playing Scott Adams' podcast while writing this. Simultaneously, although there are only a few electric outlets available in the room, and to use them I had to unplug lamps and the alarm clock, I did that and am charging two USB power banks, my phone and am able to run the Orange Pi and portable monitor. If I had been really intelligent about it, I would have brought an extension cord or power strip, but extra USB cables and charging blocks are doing the trick. Yay me.

: I'm killing some time before going over to Craig's for Thanksgiving dinner. He said they plan to eat about 3 p.m., and he's picking up Dad at 2:00. I offered to pick up Dad if that would help, but he hasn't answered that yet so unless he says yes, I'll just go directly to his & Rebecca's house. David said yesterday that he'll come over to visit tomorrow, since they are having the holiday at Chrissy's. I hope that means Angela and the kids will also come over, but if not I'll see if I can wrangle an invitation to go over there to see them. Byron's birthday present arrived just before I left home, so I'll try to find some giftwrap and give that to him rather than have to mail it. When I get home I need to get busy on my Christmas shopping!

: Dinner was great, and everyone was grateful Dad was there to enjoy it with us! Craig said the ICU nurses were amazed at him. They said most 98 year olds can't even walk, but Dad does everything, even his own laundry! Anyway, he went from the ICU to being discharged in just a few days, and even gained a few pound while he was in the hospital!

: In the post-prandial glow, while Dad napped on the couch and Rebecca visited with her friends and brother on the porch, I showed Craig the electronics toys I'd brought with me. He said he was jealous! He also talked a little bit about his recent project for Harris, basically building all the software for the ARM computer than runs the F-35 once it's in the air. He said the tons of X86 devices mostly shut down after their pre-flight checkout, but the ARM is the only thing left running. That's pretty cool. He also said they like Rebecca Creek whiskey, which I'd mentioned because it's local to me. My subdivision is between the East Branch & West Branch of Rebecca Creek! He'd bought it because of the name, but then they discovered they liked it, so I promised to send/bring(?) them a bottle for Christmas. Since he said it's really good, that might be a good choice for David, too.

: I took Dad home, then came back to the hotel and crashed myself for a few hours. Turkey will do that! I woke up when my 10 p.m. alarm went off reminding me to do my eyedrops, so I plugged in the OPi and checked email, while charging up my phone & watch. I needed to get up and undress anyway. David had texted while I was still at Craig & Rebecca's, asking what time to meet up tomorrow, so I asked and relayed their answer, "anytime after 10 a.m." but David didn't say when they'd arrive. I'll text him in the morning to find out and let him know we'd gather at Craig's rather than have him come down to Viera. So I'd better get my act together and get a few hours more sleep before that. Meanwhile, Rebecca gave me some birthday paper and a card for Byron's birthday present, which had arrived Monday before I left home and I hadn't even looked at yet. It's a little yellow tractor-frontend loader thing, which I hope he'll like. I got it from Woot! on sale, so was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it arrived. Bringing it with me saved having to ship it.

: I've been thinking of sending a text to Pete and possibly going down to see them while I'm here, since I'm not leaving until Monday morning. They might not be in town, but if they are it would be good to touch base. I'll set an alarm to do that so I don't forget.
