New page

=Katherine (Watson) Cochrane Prawl=

: As the author of this website/ebook, I have been doing genealogy and family history research since the early 1970s, and was interested in finding out more about our heritage before that. The first library research I ever did was in Huntsville, Alabama, with toddler James Cochrane in tow, when I found a copy of [https://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-American-Quaker-Genealogy-III/dp/B0083P0Z4A one of the volumes of Hinshaw's books of Quaker records] that mentioned Mary Latham, who married Andrew Meade and was "disowned" by the Society of Friends for marrying "out of unity" (to a non-Quaker). Before that, I had briefly corresponded with my grandmother, Johnnie Mae Hackworth, who was a serious genealogist, and had heard many stories about recent ancestors from both my parents. Since that time I have spent many hours (days, weeks, months, years) digging up information and attempting to organize it. Indeed, I bought my first computer in 1981 with the express purpose of writing a family history. It has taken a long time, but the present effort is the result of many false starts, but much data gathering. I hope it is useful or at least interesting to some others.
